Corinne Rivers
S.I. York Region

November 26, 1950 - January 29, 2024

The members of Soroptimist International of Eastern Canada Region fondly
remember our Soroptimist sister Corinne Rivers who passed away
peacefully on January 29, 2024, in Newmarket, Ontario surrounded by the
love of her life Richard, her family members and close friends.
Corinne, well known to many of us, has been an active Soroptimist for
more than 40 years. She was a dedicated Parliamentarian for the ECR
Board for many years. She served on the Soroptimist Foundation of
Canada board and was a charter member of two Soroptimists Clubs SI
Cambridge and SI York Region.
Corinne loved to share her expertise of the law with Soroptimsts whenever
needed. Corinne’s passion for the Soroptimist organization and its mission
enabled her to inspire many women to join her in the work of bettering the
lives of women and girls by joining our organization. Along the way, she
shared her personal belief that the Soroptimist community was unique in
that the members lifted each other up whenever needed.
Corinne’s exceptional dedication to our mission was honoured with the
ECR Dream Maker award in 2022.
We mourn the loss of this smart and fearless woman who was known for
her honesty and loyalty. Corinne will be deeply missed.

Marion Cavasin
S.I. Hamilton-Burlington

April 13, 1935 - August 28, 2021

“Members of Soroptimist International of Hamilton-Burlington are very saddened by the death of Marion Cavasin, a founding member of the Club in 1979. With her natural leadership and creative skills she immersed herself in Soroptimist at the local, regional, and international level with such dedication that was an inspiration to all of the determination to make a better world for the lives of Women and Girls, the keystone of the Club. We will miss her understanding of being a fully engaged member which she did with such grace and discretion over the years.”
