Replacing All Beds in the Local Women's Shelter
Sometimes when we hear in advertising that companies donate to service organizations, we wonder if it is true. My experience shows that, yes we should contact companies and ask for donations to help with our projects.
S.I.Haldimand-Norfolk members discovered that the beds in the Women's Shelter were not in good conditions. In December I contacted "Sleep Country Canada" with a donation request for 18 twin and 1 queen size mattresses and waterproof covers, to replace the old mattresses in all the bedrooms.
After several calls and negotiations "Sleep Country Canada" gave us the wonderful news that the company will kindly replacement all the 19 frames, box spring, mattresses and the waterproof covers.
On February 8, 2006 was the big day for our club members, when the company team delivered and set-up all the beds in the residence. This donations has a value of $ 9,500. Five of our members attended to help remove the old frames and mattresses and be part of this exciting day.
Adele our P.R. person was able to invite two reporters from local News Papers and we are looking forward to see the reports with pictures being publicised.
Our club members and the residents of the Shelter could not be more happy with the generous donation of this great Canadian Company.
S.I.Haldimand-Norfolk has made a difference in the lives of many women, by making sure that the women, who are living in a very stressful situation, will be able to enjoy the good night sleep they deserve.
